A quick guide to eating well in Fukuoka.
Fukuoka is the closest major airport and city to Yufuin. You may find it worthwhile to spend time before or after the wedding visiting the area; if so, I've got some recommendations for how you may want to spend your time here!
If you are drinking at night, I recommend: yakitori first (especially the "torikawa" places, since they get crowded),, then fish, then yatai, and if you still have room, ramen or udon.
The essence of sightseeing in Fukuoka is making efficient use of your stomach’s memory, so hearty one-meal-and-done dishes like motsunabe or mizutaki are the safer lunch choice.
Tenjin is the best base for drinking. It is centered around Tenjin Station and packed with neighborhoods such as Daidō/Akasaka, Imaizumi/Yakuin, Haruyoshi, and Nishi-Nakasu. Nakasu, Hakata, and Gion are also worth exploring, and Nakasu in particular has a very lively nightlife energy.
